How to read these records

The license

One record per license number. A business with several activities holds several licenses; the record lists the others, joined on the City's business identifier.

Status

The City's own words: active, ready for renewal, expired, surrendered, failed to renew, voided, suspended, revoked. Borough and category pages list active and ready-for-renewal licenses only. The file does not say why a license was suspended or revoked.

Address

Some home improvement contractors have no street address in the City file; they appear without one.

What is not here

Licenses issued to individuals, phone numbers, complaints, violations, and a licensee's legal name when it is a person's name — the trade name is shown instead.
